Why Medicinal Mushrooms
Hello,
My name is Olga, and I am a recent cancer survivor.
This is my story of how discovering medicinal mushrooms truly changed my life.
Naturally, it is upsetting and shocking to be diagnosed with cancer. It is the most dreaded outcome, one we have learned to fear and loathe.
So at first I thought why me? What did I do wrong?
Yet, most of us never realize how common the diagnosis really is! Every 1 in 8 women will experience breast cancer. And not too long ago, I was one of them. Somehow I was even more "lucky" than that - my doctors also found lung cancer. With two dramatically life-changing diagnoses, I had to have a significant amount of chemotherapy sessions and surgeries.
This presented a lot of time to think about my new questions- why us? What are we humans doing wrong?
While it is well researched, modern medicine still struggles with consistently predicted and curing cancer. And the bitter reality is there is no one on Earth that doesn't have someone close, a family or friend, fighting this disease. For me, my parents both had cancer. They each suffered from different types, and none that I experienced, so inherently my chances of getting cancer wasn't from them.
Then what's wrong with our society? Why are the numbers so high?
As society progressed through the years, clearly something went wrong: we forgot our origins, our ties to nature. Our society has grown in many ways, but that has often meant abandoning the natural world that we come from.
When I came to this realization, I began to pursue a lifestyle that is more aligned with nature and our past. And that's how I discovered medicinal mushrooms. I learned that mushrooms have existed for millions of years, thought to predate even the first humans.
Certain types of mushrooms have helped people in various healing ways. Many eastern cultures have carried and implemented this knowledge for centuries.
And I believe it is time we did, too.
